Mowers are expensive machines, and you don't want yours breaking down or falling apart before you’ve gotten your money’s worth. To help you ensure that your lawn mower lasts a lifetime, we’ve put together a few easy maintenance tasks below. Follow our helpful tips, and your mower is sure to last for years to come!

Cleaning

Not many equipment owners choose to clean their lawn mowers after each use, and the results are detrimental. Metal equipment rusts quickly, blades dull faster, and the engine experiences more wear as a result. To keep your mower lasting a lifetime, be sure to give your equipment a quick rinse with the hose after each use. You can also use a wet rag to wipe down the underside of your machine, and then leave it to dry in the sun before placing it in storage.

Oil and Gas

Your mower’s oil and gas are two of its most important fluids, and we advise checking them regularly to keep important systems and equipment from getting damaged. While we recommend changing your oil after every 50 hours of use, if you notice it begins to look dirty or thick, it may be wise to change it early.

While you don't need to check your gas as often as your oil, it can be helpful to peer into the tank every once in a while. If you notice the fuel is dark or has a sweet or sour smell to it, we advise draining the tank and refilling it with fresh fuel. If you’re planning on placing your equipment in storage, or think you may not use it for quite a while, you’ll want to add a stabilizer to the tank to keep your gas from getting stale.
